A Reason to Smile
What's not to love about a group of 3 and 4 year olds enjoying every inch of a playground? Sometimes little ones need a bit of assistance negotiating the territory, that can lead to tears. Playgrounds can be especially challenging for children who can't communicate their needs through traditional speech.
And that is why WFEE is purchasing Core Language Boards for Winchester's elementary playgrounds. The boards feature symbols that are easily understood and already used in classroom interactions.
"This will be a game changer for our students with complex communication needs - and their families will now see how much the entire Winchester community loves and values them!

The sturdy signs have already been installed at the Parkhurst preschool and Vinson-Owen Elementary, both home to specialized programs for our youngest learners. With the help of Winchester's Department of Public Works more signs will be installed across the district in the spring.
Isn't that a good reason to smile? You can make more children and educators smile with a year end gift to WFEE to fund grants at all our schools.
