Project Manager: Maggie Jackson
School: McCall Middle School
Type of Grant: Education
Target Grade: 6-8
Curriculum: Music, Talent Show, Guest Speakers
Start Date: Spring 2026
This grant would provide 4 wireless mics for the McCall Auditorium, which currently only has access to 3 wired mics. These mics will be helpful for assemblies, concerts, talent shows, large study halls, and any other activity that that requires speaking in the auditorium. As the talent show director, I know these mics would provide better opportunities for students’ multi-talents to shine.
MA Standards Grades 6-8: Speaking and Listening – Presentation of Ideas
Classes will have access to these mics during presentations. Students will be able to seamlessly use the mic system with the other multi-media components already present in the auditorium (sound system and projector).
Mics will be used during Music Concerts and the Talent Show by the end of the school year.
Provide widespread access to an easy to use sound system to large groups in the auditorium.
Students participating in the Talent Show, run the talent show. Therefore, access to these mics would give them greater autonomy and ability to move freely around the stage an auditorium while performing.
These mics will be used continuously throughout the year as they are not part of a specific, or individual project.
They are essentially plug and play and can be easily set up and broken down.
I have spoken with the Chorus Teacher, Lynn Shane, and she believes these mics would be beneficial to the music department. Students have requested these mics for the talent show. Last year, we tried using wired mics and a Karaoke machine; unfortunately the quality was low and unreliable.
