The WFEE exists to support innovation and excellence
in the Winchester Public Schools. Founded in 1992,
we provide private money to fund initiatives that
are beyond the reach of public funds. We remain committed to projects that encourage creativity but are always mindful of the changing needs of the public school system.
Thanks to the generosity of this community, we have donated more than $2 million dollars to the Winchester public schools since 2003. Our initiatives have touched every student in the district through:
- Education and professional development grants – annual seed
money for creative projects that span every
public school in Winchester. The 2010-2011 grants program is providing more than $140,000 to teachers in pursuit of excellence in the classroom;
- System wide initiatives - gifts to meet critical needs apparent in all Winchester schools. In the last 4 years, WFEE has donated $292,000 in support of teacher lap top computers at the elementary and middle school level; presentation technology such as lcd projectors and interactive whiteboards across the district; a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Initiative at WHS and funding to better integrate technology into our classrooms;
- The Promise Fund – a two year effort that
channeled $860,000 to maintain teaching positions
across the district.
The Trustees of WFEE believe that by inspiring a teacher you influence a whole generation. Thank you for your commitment to education.
