The WFEE exists to support innovation and excellence
in the Winchester Public Schools. Founded in 1992,
we provide private money to fund initiatives that
are beyond the reach of public funds. WFEE is run
by a volunteer board of Winchester residents who
work in partnership with the Superintendent and School
Committee. We are totally independent of the school
system but maintain a close partnership to ensure
that our grant-funded projects match the goals of
the schools, particularly in the area of curriculum.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have
been able to provide significant support to the school
system through a variety of initiatives:
- Technology – the purchase of laptop computers
for all full time teachers at McCall Middle School
plus major support to the wireless environment
at Winchester High school, allowing for LCD projectors
in all classroom;
- Education and professional development grants – seed
money for creative projects that have touched every
public school in Winchester;
- The Promise Fund – a two year effort that
channeled $860,000 to maintain teaching positions
across the district.
We hope you find our updated web site useful and
thank you for your commitment to education.
